Jaguar | Arbiter of Taste
Jaguar is the luxury car manufacturer which is operating under Jaguar marque. The company's headquarters is based in Whitley, Coventry in the United Kingdom. The term Jag, is referred to the cars. The name is pronounced Jag-u-ar except in North America where it is pronounced Jag-wahr.
History of Jaguar
Jaguar marque was founded by Sir William Lyons, in the year 1922. There have been several changes of ownership since 1960's. Jaguar has been operating as the wholly-owned Subsidiary in India of Tata Motors of India, since 2008, in which it is now renamed as Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) group. This takeover has been the most important and biggest takeover in the history of Tata Group. Jaguar Land Rover has been set up as a single entity, to manage the businesses of both Jaguar cars and Land Rover. The Jaguar name was given to the company in 1945, when SS (Swallow Sidecar Company) was dropped from its name after WW11 due to its lack of popularity.
Current Models of Jaguar
Jaguar is known for its elegantly styled sports car and luxury car saloons. The current models of jaguar are XF, XJ, XF and X-Type. The different types of Jaguar line up are:

- Full-size luxury saloon
- Mid-size executive saloon
- Compact executive saloon
The Jaguar XJ is a luxury sedan, which was launched in 1968 while XF is the midsize luxury car/sports sedan, made by Jaguar cars. The distinctive leaping Jaguar is the Jaguar mascot.
Advancement of Jaguar
Jaguar has designed four in-house generations of engines, which it uses in its sports and luxury set up. Jaguar is also dealing in concept models. Jaguar has had a major success in sports car racing as well. Jaguar came into Formula one entry in 1999. The notable Jaguar sports racers are XJ220, XJR-15. Jaguar has joined with Lotus cars and Caparo in a project called limo Green for manufacture of electric vehicles. This project is funded by UK Government.
